McHales
Another corner bar/restaurant is being replaced by a huge skyscraper. Yes, NY needs more ugly studio apartments where the starting rent is $2000/month. McHales was the first bar I visited in New York. Not that I'm a barfly but they did have cheap burgers...turkey, veggie & beefy.
Now where will all the theatrical union crew guys hang out before, during & after their Broadway shows?

So Long at the Faire
I'm still at the Renaissance Faire in my mind. Maybe because it's such a weird juxtoposition. People in medieval-ish outfits in the middle of an urban park that is often cluttered with drug paraphernalia & discarded car parts.
Speaking of medieval-ish drug paraphernalia (& perhaps auto parts?) what is this outfit supposed to be? This guy & his companions were marching in the opening parade of the festival. What? Why?
Who is this guy?
There must be a secret meaning to the costume that I'm not smart or hip enough to come up with.

All of a Sudden it's Fall
Even the corner delis have started carrying "Fall-ish" flowers.
Laura from Buffalo left today but before she did she, Jesse and I went to the Renaissance Fair (Faire? Ye Olde Faire?) in Ft. Tryon park. None of us remembered to wear our princess outfits.
A woman of unknown european origin (Russia? Poland? Hungary?) was at the fair & made all of these Santas. She was very proud of them.
Earlier in the week we stopped by the carousel at Bryant Park. It was turned off. Even though there were plenty of kids running all over the place!
Yum. Renaissance Fair smoked turkey drumsticks. I actually ate one.
