Smart Design

I have to admit that I am ambivalent about Obama. Don't stone me Obama-ites.

What I am not ambivalent about is the design of these "Progress" posters (I saw the one above at Houston & Bowery.)

I love them! So Soviet.

I know this comparison to the communist aesthetic has been pointed out in various media outlets but please indulge me:

"Keep your mouth shut!"

Or check out this mural from the former east Berlin:

"Hooray Socialism!"

Accidental similarity? I think not.

And what is even more genius about this Obama poster design is that it looks even BETTER, more powerful, more edgy as people have added their own graffiti and as the poster has slowly faded away.

I tip my hat to you graphic designer.
